Family D&D (Please read carefully before signing up)
This game is for parents and their children ages 7-12. When you register, you are registering for a parent-child pair. This game is limited to 3 parent-child pairs, or six people. Each team will register once under the parent's account. The child does not need to make an account.
Parents and children will each have their own character. Children may not play without an active adult also playing in this game. Characters will be made and managed on D&D Beyond and we will communicate via Google Meets. If you need help setting up your character, please notify me and be prepared to arrive 30 minutes early, or join my introductory tutorial on the first Saturday of each month.
The Scene:
You are all members of the royal household. You may be members of the royal family, their bodyguard, a knight, the gameskeeper, the groundkeeper, the court jester, the palace musician, the court wizard, the castle healer, the grand vizier, the tutor, whatever you like, except the King and Queen (they are too busy running things to go out and have adventures).
Once you've made your choices, please let us know in the comments for this adventure. It is okay if we have more than one of the same thing!
Next, go to DnDBeyond and build your character in a way that makes sense for the background you've chosen. Perhaps you are a bard, and also the tutor of the royal children. Or maybe you're a wizard and the King's advisor. Or a knight and a paladin. Or a Ranger who manages the royal stables. Or the Druid who manages the royal gardens.

To keep things simple, I am only permitting options in the Basic Rules and the following races:
Human
Elf
Dwarf
Halfling
On the first page of DnDBeyond's Character creation, deselect all the options under "sources".
On the second page under "Filter Race Sources", choose Basic Rules.
Then continue on to choose your class. Use the drop down menu on the class page to choose your level. Your character should be level 3.
Use the standard array option for your ability scores.
Choose whatever you like for your character's background.
Choose your starting equipment using the step by step form. (Don't worry about gold, the Royal Family will make sure you're well provided for.)

This is going to be a shorter session, as kids have short attention spans. If you are worried your kiddo won't be able to sit still, don't worry. You may have to give a lot of help and they may want to run laps between turns. Or they might be really into and on top of it. We can't know until we try. And I don't know about your kiddo, but mine is just excited to see other kids.
